This Focus Session highlights Indigenous-led affordable housing developments that are grounded in strong Nation or Society vision and designed to meet growing housing needs within communities. Presented by M’akola Development Services, the session will showcase projects across British Columbia that have not only been successful at delivering housing, but have also integrated culturally relevant services, community spaces, and resident supports. Speakers will explore how long-term vision, persistence, and strategic partnerships have enabled these projects to move from concept to completion - often over many years. Learn how Indigenous non-profit societies and First Nations have successfully championed affordable housing initiatives by prioritizing community need, building meaningful partnerships, and staying true to the project vision.
